High School Teachers
Rowenna is from the east coast of Canada. She pursued her Bachelor of Arts degree at Dalhousie University with a double major in English Literature and Social Anthropology followed by her Bachelor of Education at Mount Saint Vincent University with a focus on teaching English and Social Studies from grades 6-12. Once she began her teaching career, she also completed her master’s degree specializing in International Learning Styles. Rowenna has been working overseas for the past several years, working in Qatar, Egypt, and Myanmar with students from grades 5-12. During this time, she also worked in schools as a curriculum and accreditation coordinator to ensure student’s learning was cohesive across subjects and different grade levels. Rowenna believes in a holistic and crosscurricular learning style which encourages students to make connections between their subjects which can then be applied to real-world situations.

Gisela Burguera is an environmental engineer turned teacher 10 years ago. She previously taught math for 4 years at ISM-Maturin and for 3 years at CEIA-Anaco. She has lived and studied in Europe (Germany and The Netherlands) for over 9 years and is fluent in Spanish, English, Dutch, German, and Portuñol. Ms. Burguera loves the interactions with students and the small daily classroom challenges. She constantly strives for improvement and loves learning new things.

Harrison is from the US, specifically North Carolina. He pursued an undergraduate in Political Science with a minor in Education from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. He subsequently attended Hawai’i Pacific University for his M.A. and SUNY-Buffalo State for M.S. in International Learning Styles, and is currently working on his dissertation for his Doctorate in Education Leadership. Harrison is a strong believer in lifelong learning, which he has continued with professional courses in various AP Summer Institutes and becoming a WASC International Visiting Committee Member with several school visits. Harrison has mixed his hobby of traveling and education, by working in various places like Cambodia, Egypt, Qatar, and Myanmar with students in AP Economics, AP Human Geography, AP Comparative Government, Social Studies, and ELA in grades 7-12. Harrison believes in 21st Century learning methodologies, with a focus on student-centered learning and utilizing technology to maximize learning outcomes.

Wendell is a lifelong learner who has taught a variety of sciences for over 20 years at international schools in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America. Wendell and his wife Terry are excited to be back in the CIPLC community, where they and their 4 children spent 5 wonderful years, from 2005-2010. Just prior to this return engagement, Wendell spent 10 years as the Director of Teaching and Learning at Rowland Hall, an independent school in Salt Lake City, Utah. Wendell has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Texas A&M University, a Master of Science degree in Physiology from Colorado State University, and a Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from Purdue University.
