I am very honored to be part of the outstanding CIPLC team. I am entering my 26th year as an educator, and have worked in Canada, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan. With both of our boys (Mitchell and Andrew) in college, Lisa and I are enjoying this new phase of our lives in Venezuela. I am inspired by the positive energy and enthusiasm of the entire CIPLC community and will continue my work this year to make CIPLC the best educational environment possible for each and every student.
David Carlson is excited to be returning to Venezuela and the CIPLC community after being away for 6 years. He was raised in the Panama Canal Zone and went to the US for college and grad school. He met his wife, fellow educator Michele Hussey, in a Zoology course at the University of California at Davis. They have two sons, Andrew and Nico, who both attended CIPLC. Andrew is a recent engineering graduate of Northwestern University, and Nico is a junior in the School of the Arts at New York University. In California David taught 2nd and 6th Grade Spanish Immersion students and then moved to the Junior High to teach Math and Spanish. He also served as vice principal of a large traditional junior high school and principal of a Spanish Immersion K-6 magnet school. Internationally, David has taught 5th Grade, middle school Math and high school Honors Biology, Speech, and American Government. David loves the international life and is very happy that his family has had the opportunity to live, study, and teach in the US, Thailand, Venezuela, and Qatar. David enjoys reading, snorkeling, hiking, music, and eating, and is happy to be a Gecko again!
